About Saco River Education..
Our Mission:
Our mission is to promote education of health care workers by facilitating access to training and education for millions of staff internationally. Through our web-based education program,we offer current, top-of-the-line courses of study without the burden of classroom attendance.
Saco River Education Computer Based Training is the brainchild of the staff who are currently involved in the project. We are:
Elizabeth Sjulander, RN, BSN, Instructor /Owner. Elizabeth is the author of the course presentations. She taught the course for 3 years in a classroom before developing this virtual format. Elizabeth is the Executive Director for Saco River Health Services, Inc. in Waterboro, ME. She has been with SRHS since 1996. She lives in Hollis, ME with her husband Mark and their new baby, Wyatt Mark Sjulander.
Joyce Segee, RN, MSN, Instructor . Joyce has been a member of the State committee on the PSS curriculum since 2001. Joyce continues to assist in curriculum development and marketing for the online courses, as well as teaching the online course. Joyce has been a nurse since 1969 working in various areas of health care and education. She is the Clinical Director/Owner of Saco River Health Services. She lives in Hollis with her husband David, her father-in-law Bud and their dog Molly. Her son, Daniel, and her daughter, Elizabeth, are her business partners at Saco River Health Services in Waterboro, ME.
David Segee, BS, MEd, CAGS, Curriculum Consultant. David is also an owner of Saco River Health Services and is the Director of Child and Family Services at SRHS. David spent 25 years in public education as a teacher, vice principal and guidance counselor. David continues to be a curriculum consultant, trainer, and assists in the development of our online courses. He is a contractor and builds houses in his spare time. He and his wife, Joyce are currently building a home in Belize, Central America.
Lisa DeMarco, Information Technology Manager/Administration. Lisa is the IT person at SRE as well as the Financial Manager for Saco River Health Services. Lisa has been the visionary (aka "techno-nerd") for our computer based training program and continues to promote computerization/automation of our Agency and Corporation. She has created an advanced scheduling program for our home care company that saves us time and has dramatically improved our efficiency. She is also involved in the long term planning and marketing at SRE. She lives in Hollis with her husband, Joe, their two children, Nikki and Joey and their dog, Jilly.
SRE has developed the online curriculum for the PSS certification in the State of Maine. We are working with the Departments of Human Services in other states to explore reciprocity in other states or other venues. If you are not from the State of Maine and are interested in one of our courses, please contact us and we will seek out the regulations in your area and advocate for you to be able to use our certification in your state. Most recently SRE hs developed an online professional in-servicing for direct care workers and child care workers focusing on working with children with disabilities.
