Student Attendance: Each student will access the website on a weekly basis with their ID and this will be tracked weekly by the instructor to monitor attendance.

Length of Course: The Course will be offered on a weekly basis for 14 weeks.

Independent Study: A student may take the Course in less than 14 weeks as an independent study. A student who enrolls in the Course independently shall complete the Course at their own pace in less than 14 weeks. Guidelines for contact and feedback from the instructor will be given in detail upon registration.

Student Learning Expectations : Each student is expected to complete each class on a weekly basis including viewing the content, reading any associated handouts, completing the discussion questions, and submitting a completed quiz. The student will also be required to view video workshops, and at the end of the course re-demonstrate skills and take a final exam.

Partial Completion : Any student who completes the initial “core” curriculum (classes 1-6) can receive a partial certificate of completion. This may be credited towards the Certified Nursing Assistant Curriculum for a period of two years.

Educational Materials : The online program will be the primary text. A secondary text will be available on an optional basis. All handouts will be online with each class.

Testing : Students will respond to a discussion section and take a quiz at the end of each class. Quizzes can be taken up to 3 times if a score of 80 is not achieved. A re-demonstration of skills onsite will be required after all classes have been completed. A secured final exam will be given on the final day. The student must achieve an average of 80 on all testing to successfully complete the Course. After successful completion of all classes, re-demonstration skills and the final exam, certificates will be requested from the State of Maine, Bureau of Elder and Adult Services. If you do not receive your certificate in two weeks, contact Peter Mauro (BEAS) at 1-800-262-2232

Make up : Students are expected to complete classes in a timely manner. Because of the flexible nature of the class formal makeup periods will not be available. Because of this policy we advise students to keep current with the classes and correspond with the instructor regarding any issues. Actual class attendance/viewing of class and reading of text is at student’s leisure yet current class discussion questions will have a deadline of one week for submission.

Payment Expectations : Full payment is expected upon registration, prior to starting the PSS Course. Saco River Education will accept payment in the form of cash or check. Checks should be made payable to Saco River Education. Access to the course will not be granted until full payment is received, unless a payment plan has been established and agreed upon by a staff member of Saco River Education. A confirmation of registration and all materials necessary to access the web site classroom will be sent as soon as Saco River Education receives all completed forms and payment.

Refund Policy : A 100% refund of tuition will be given to students requesting a refund in writing within three business days of signing our contract, or within two weeks prior to class start date. Cancellations after that will be charged a $ 50.00 registration fee. A prorated refund will be issued for cancellations made during the Course. Submit a written refund request, and please allow 6-8 weeks to process.
