About Saco River Education..
Our Mission:
Our mission is to promote education of health care workers by facilitating access to training and education for millions of staff internationally. Through our web-based education program, we offer current, top-of-the-line courses of study without the burden of classroom attendance.
Saco River Education Computer Based Training is the brainchild of the staff who are currently involved in the project. Meet our staff:
Elizabeth Sjulander, RN, BSN, Instructor /Owner Elizabeth is a nurse and the author of the PSS course presentations. She taught the course for 3 years in a classroom before developing this virtual format. She will be active in refreshing the PSS course presentation over the next six months. She is the owner of SRE, loves curriculum development and is excited over the new offerings that have been developed for our website. Elizabeth is the Executive Director for Saco River Health Services, Inc. in Waterboro, ME. She has been with SRHS since 1996. She lives in Hollis, ME with her husband, Mark, and their son, Wyatt.
Joyce Segee, RN, MSN, Instructor/Curriculum Developer Joyce has been a member of the DHHS, Office of Elder Services Committee on the PSS Curriculum since 2001. Joyce continues to teach the PSS Course online and has developed the online BHP Course. She has been instrumental in creating the relationship between DHHS, SRE and BHSI in order to offer this exciting new mental health certification. Joyce has been a nurse since 1969 working in various areas of health care and education. She is the Clinical Director/Owner of Saco River Health Services. She lives in Hollis with her husband David, her father-in-law, Bud. Her son, Daniel, and her daughter, Elizabeth, are her business partners at Saco River Health Services in Waterboro, ME. She is the proud Mamma of two handsome grandsons.
David Segee, BS, MEd, CAGS, Curriculum Consultant David is also an owner of Saco River Health Services and is the Director of Child and Family Services at SRHS. David is a Certified BHP Instructor and has consulted on the development of that Curriculam. David spent 25 years in public education as a teacher, vice principal and guidance counselor. David continues to be a curriculum consultant, trainer, and assists in the development of our online courses. He is a contractor and builds houses in his spare time. He and his wife, Joyce are currently building a home in Belize, Central America.
Lisa DeMarco, Information Technology Manager/Administration Lisa is the IT person at SRE as well as the Financial Manager for Saco River Health Services. Lisa has been the visionary (aka "techno-nerd") for our computer based training program and continues to promote computerization/automation of our Agency and Corporation. She has created an advanced scheduling program for our home care company that saves us time and has dramatically improved our efficiency. She is also involved in the long term planning and marketing at SRE. She lives in Hollis with her husband, Joe, their two children, Nikki and Joey and their dog, Jilly. She and her family have recently bought a camp in Eustis, ME.
Our COURSE OFFERINGS are always expanding. We are developing and "rolling-out" our new State of ME Certified Behavioral Health Professional Course. We are "wicked" excited about our new courses and proud of the associations we have made with professionals all over New England as we have sought out the most comprehensive way to offer mental health distance education to professionals.We will be looking into other options soon!
SRE has developed the online curriculum for the PSS Certification in the State of Maine and are offering the BHP Certification.
We are working with the Departments of Health and Human Services in other states to explore reciprocity. If you are not from the State of Maine and are interested in one of our Courses, please contact us and we will seek out the regulations in your area and advocate for you to be able to use our Certification in your state. SRE has developed an online professional in-servicing for direct care workers and child care workers focusing on working with children with disabilities.
